Supporting people to live their best life

We provide personalised behaviour support to help people and the people around them better understand what is happening and find practical ways forward.

We start by getting to know the person, not just the behaviour. We look at what might be contributing to the behaviour, including communication, relationships, routines, environment, past experiences, strengths and support needs. Most importantly, we listen to the person and the people who know them best.

From there, we work together to develop strategies that make sense for the individual and can actually be used in everyday life. We also work alongside families, carers and support teams so that everyone feels more confident and knows how to provide consistent support.

Our Behaviour Support services include:

Functional Behaviour Assessments

Our Functional Behaviour Assessments look beyond what is happening to understand why behaviour is happening. We take the time to understand the person, their environment, communication, relationships and individual needs, identifying the factors that may be contributing to behaviour.

Behaviour Support Plans

We develop interim and comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans that look beyond the behaviour itself to understand what is driving it.

Our plans are evidence-informed, individualised and designed to be genuinely useful in everyday life — not just documents that sit on a shelf.

Development of PBS Strategies

We translate assessment findings into practical, proactive strategies that fit the person and their everyday life. Our approach focuses on building skills, meeting underlying needs and creating environments where people can feel safe, understood and supported.

Training and Coaching

We provide practical training and ongoing coaching for families, carers and support teams, helping them understand behaviour and feel confident responding to it. Training is tailored to the person, their needs and the environments in which support actually happens.

Reducing Restrictive Practice

We work collaboratively with participants, families and support teams to understand when and why restrictive practices are being used, and to identify safer, more effective alternatives wherever possible.

Monitoring and Review

Behaviour and circumstances can change over time. We regularly review progress, gather feedback from participants and their support teams, and use this information to understand what is working — and what isn’t.

Experienced Practitioners

Our practitioners bring extensive experience across psychology, behaviour support and complex presentations, with a strong understanding of the people and systems surrounding each participant.

Why Choose MHB

Evidence-Informed Practice

We draw on established psychological and Positive Behaviour Support approaches to ensure our recommendations are thoughtful, defensible and grounded in what works.

Responsive & Timely

We understand that people shouldn't have to wait months for support. We aim to provide clear communication, efficient assessments and high-quality plans within appropriate timeframes.

Individualised, Not Template-Based

Every participant is different. We take the time to understand the person, their environment and their goals rather than relying on generic strategies or one-size-fits-all plans.

Practical & Collaborative

We don't just write plans — we work alongside participants, families and support teams to make strategies understandable, achievable and useful in everyday life.

Let's talk about what support could look like.
